Missions Report
(from the 2009 annual report)

As an alliance of Christians committed to seeing the Great Commission completed, Alliance Great
Commission Ministries include more than 900 workers serving in 81 countries worldwide. Alliance workers
are not required to raise their own support. Instead, they and their ministries are financed through The Great
Commission Fund (GCF). C&MA church members and friends of The Alliance give to the GCF regularly and
live out the example set by the early church of sacrificial giving toward the work of the gospel. One of the goals
of the Missions Committee is to encourage those who are able to give regularly to the Great Commission
Fund.

Another goal is to encourage all of us to pray regularly for missionaries and the mission field around us. This
is done by listing weekly in the bulletin one of the missions we support and by maintaining a bulletin board
with missionary pictures and prayer letters.

The annual Mission’s Conference was held September 20-23. Chuck and Betty Ostlie were our guest
missionaries. They are home on furlough from Chile where they have been serving for 29 years. Alliance
missionaries have made significant inroads into Chile’s professional class by cultivating meaningful
relationships with society’s most influential residents. In Reñaca, a congregation of 100 professionals has
been formed. They requested that we “pray that God would guide and use us as a couple as we share
together in message and pictures how God continues to open doors in Renaca, Chile and around the world.
We are trusting God that many would sense the urgency of the gospel as we help “push back the darkness”
by His grace and strength.”

Chuck Ostlie shared during the morning services on Sunday, September 20. Monday evening was the Pie
Social and a presentation was given by those who had participated in the youth mission trip to El Salvador. It
was exciting to hear how God worked in the lives of the youth who went as well as the people they came in
contact with! Wednesday evening Chuck Ostlie gave a presentation to the children at Awana while Betty Ostlie
shared with the youth group.

Please look in the church budget under missions to see a list of all the other missionaries and mission
outreach projects that our church helps support.
